Medium Vase 10

A Medium sized Wood Fired vase with natural ash glaze. Great Flashing and dark grey carbon trapping under layers of ash!

8.5" tall x 4" wide

There are never two pots the exact same out of the wood kiln. The pots go in the kiln with no glaze on them, only the bare surface of the clay. Wood heats the kiln over 48 hours, stoking every 3-5 minutes and burning over a cord of hardwood in only two days ( that's a pile of stacked wood 4' wide x 4' tall x 8' long...a lot.

Think of the flame moving through the kiln this way and that, wood ash landing on the pots and starting to melt, creating the drips and layers of colors over the surface of the pot. Depending on the location of the pots in the kiln, how much wood ash, the direction and velocity of the flame, and the atmosphere (the result of introducing more or less air for the flame to burn) dictates the surface on each one.

If its a good firing overall, its like Christmas when you are 8 years old and you get those inline skates you wanted and zoom around the house to who let the dogs out...ask me how I know.

Pottery Care : Microwave and dishwasher safe. We recommend using mild detergents in the dishwasher to prolong the life of your pots. Hand washing is always a safe bet as well.
